2021 Annual Ministry Recap

Looking back over 2021, we are grateful and in awe of how God equipped the ministry of His Little Feet to carry out the mission of helping, loving and training orphaned and vulnerable children worldwide.

Here is a recap celebrating some special things God accomplished in 2021 through His Little Feet (HLF)!

International Children’s Choir

The HLF International Children’s Choir brought a message of hope as they presented over 60 events in churches and schools throughout the United States. During their extended time in the U.S., the HLF children from India and Rwanda were helped, loved and trained, plus had the opportunity to personally grow, heal and learn, as they traveled around the country.

  • January-March: The choir presented each Sunday throughout the state of CO.
  • April-May: The choir presented in OK, MO, TX, KS and CO.
  • May: The Rwandans returned to Kigali, Rwanda, where they became HLF alumni and now actively participate in the HLF Alumni Program at the HLF Global Community Center. The Indians remained with HLF in the U.S. for the remainder of 2021.
  • June-August: The “HLF Summer Concert Series” debuted, where the choir presented in private backyards.
  • September-December: The choir toured in CO, KS, MO, OK, NE, IL, OH, PA, NY, NC and TN.
  • December: The Indians returned to Aizawl, Mizoram, India, where they became HLF alumni and now actively participate in the HLF Alumni Program at the HLF Global Community Center.

A couple of additional highlights to our tour schedule were:

  • October – Performed live in the 52nd Annual GMA Dove Awards in Nashville, TN with We the Kingdom and in front of over 1.8 million people virtually.
  • December – Performed in 12 live Christmas services at Bayside Church in Granite Bay, CA in front of over 25,000 people alongside the Thrive Worship team, Lincoln Brewster, Ray Johnston, Curt Harlow and Andrew McCourt.

After such a long pause in 2020, it was touching, empowering and impactful to HLF how churches, schools and homes welcomed the choir back with open arms and generous hearts. As much of the developing world was just catching wind of the difficulties from the pandemic, the HLF children from Rwanda and India here in the US were sharing joy and encouragement to many weary hearts and frustrated souls, as Americans were trying their best to hang on throughout such a challenging time. A common thread shared by those who attended a concert or hosted the choir in 2021 was the reality that each of the HLF children, at some point in their lives, had once walked a similar difficult road of weariness and frustration. Those experiencing HLF could see that the HLF children knew what it meant to have one’s world turned up-side-down, to lose a loved one and/or go without. And yet, with grief and loss from the past, the unanswered questions and future unknowns, the HLF children continue to choose joy because of the transformation in their lives and the hope they have! Each day there is more healing and transformation. There are still bumps in the road, but no matter the circumstances the HLF children shine brightly in this dark world! What inspiration these young world changers are to so many!

Life Training Academy

All of the HLF choir participants are students in the Life Training Academy (LTA) where they received help and training in academics, performing arts and life skills. The students took part in electives such as sewing, filmmaking, typing, acting, sports and art, as well as seasonal day trips to visit farms, the zoo, parks and libraries. Each of the students memorized 73 bible verses and completed 365 days of the HLF CRAVE Bible study and prayer journal. In May, all 18 students graduated from the HLF LTA. In June, more musical instruments were purchased to create a music studio learning area for the students to participate in music lessons, write and create their own original songs and learn to play instruments in a group performance setting. A few of the students were even invited to play their instruments alongside the HLF choir during the Summer Concert Series. Reflecting back on 2021, while the majority of schools around the world were still shut down due to the pandemic, we are so grateful that the HLF LTA was able to continue forward, functioning at full capacity. All throughout this past year, our hope was that the growth, confidence, and life skills gained from their experiences with HLF would strengthen, encourage and equip each of the children to become future leaders in their communities around the globe.

Alumni Program

At the end of their time in the States, all of the choir participants return to their home countries, becoming HLF alumni. HLF’s ongoing desire is to not only see each of the choir alumni have their basic needs met, but also to advocate for them by providing excellent opportunities for growth and guidance as they achieve their dreams and become all God is calling them to be. In 2021, the Alumni Program was primarily underwritten by monthly and/or annual gifts given by generous donors who give to the HLF Alumni Fund. Due to the global pandemic, the HLF staff around the world worked especially hard in 2020 & 2021 to maintain stability for the HLF Alumni Program, as well keep consistency in impacting and strengthening each individual HLF alumni. Since 2009, there have been over 165 choir alumni from 6 different countries. In 2021, 96 choir alumni qualified to be in the HLF Alumni Program, receiving the five after-choir care elements: Educational Assistance, Spiritual Development, Life Skills Coaching, Personal Care Management and HLF Community Life Activities. Still amidst the challenges of 2021, the HLF Alumni continued to dream and keep their aspirations high, as their skill sets were sharpened and improved, and their minds were stretched far beyond their small corners of the world.

Global Community Centers

The HLF Global Community Centers (GCC) are beacons of light and hope for HLF communities around the world. In 2021, the HLF GCC carried out the ongoing mission of HLF which is to help, love and train orphaned and vulnerable children worldwide. These centers serve as home-base for the past, present and future HLF children, their families and their communities.

Examples of activities that happened at the centers over the past year were: academic tutoring, group worship and discipleship, fellowship and games, HLF office administration, health services, microfinance program for families, life skills Coaching, leadership development training courses, one-on-one personal care management, Bible studies and training meetings for guardians, holiday and birthday celebrations, new choir preparations, training, rehearsals and more.

In 2021, HLF celebrated a few milestones in our GCCs:

  • The opening of the HLF GCC in Rwanda.
  • Built a full kitchen and furnished bunk beds and various furniture for the GCC Residential space in India.
  • Completed the first full year of the Microfinance Program in Kenya.

At the end of the year, all three GCCs hosted HLF annual Christmas celebrations, bringing together and blessing the many HLF children and teens, as well as the large HLF communities which surround and love them.

College Scholarship Fund

Finally, in 2021, HLF celebrated the sixth year of the College Scholarship Fund. Back in 2015, the College Scholarship Fund was designated to distribute scholarship funds to HLF choir alumni applicants in need of financial support during their college years.

On behalf of all of us at His Little Feet, especially all of the precious HLF children throughout the world, thank you for your partnership, generous financial support and faithful prayers which have equipped us to bring the hope and love of Jesus to those in need

In 2022, we look forward to continuing this important work with you of reaching children one step at a time!
